Meet Our President

Alison Potter

Hi, I’m Alison Potter, president of Caring Transitions of Buffalo. While I’ve played various roles in our community, from education to catering, it’s been my experiences in the senior living world that have left a lasting impression on me. I’ve gained a deep understanding and empathy for the challenges seniors face during significant life transitions.

Before joining Caring Transitions, I spent several years as a sales director in an assisted living community. This role allowed me to work closely with seniors and their families, helping them navigate the complexities of moving from their long-term homes to more supportive living environments. My experiences there have given me a unique perspective on the diverse needs of seniors and their families that will help me better serve you.

Perhaps the most transformative experience in my professional and personal life was when I was diagnosed with stage three cancer. Battling this illness made me acutely aware of the vulnerability and resilience in all of us, especially in our senior community. This challenging period reinforced my commitment to working in senior living, where I felt I could make a real difference.

At Caring Transitions of Buffalo, we understand that moving is often stressful, and even more so for seniors facing additional life changes. We aim to provide a full spectrum of services, from decluttering to packing and moving, and even managing online estate sales, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for our clients.

When I’m not helping local seniors and their families through their next relocation, I’m with my growing family. You might see me around walking my dogs Scout and Sophie or gardening. I love to spend my time off traveling and seeing new places.

Shannon Bold, Operations Manager, Caring Transitions of Buffalo
Meet Our Operations Manager

Shannon Bold

I have dedicated my career to supporting older adults and their families during times of transition, always leading with compassion, respect, and understanding. I graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2015 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation, where I developed a strong foundation in person-centered care and the importance of maintaining quality of life at every stage of aging. I later earned my Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Utica College in 2018, which strengthened my knowledge of healthcare systems, operations, and advocacy within senior services.

Throughout my career, I have worked in a variety of senior living roles, including sales, activities leadership, and other hands-on positions. These experiences allowed me to build meaningful relationships with residents and families while gaining a well-rounded perspective on the emotional and logistical challenges that often accompany aging and change.

Most recently, I worked with Oasis Senior Advisors, where I guided families through the often overwhelming process of senior living placement. I took pride in listening to each family’s unique situation and helping them find solutions that aligned with their needs, preferences, and values.

I am excited to be part of the Caring Transitions team, where I can continue to support older adults and their families through life’s changes. Being able to combine my professional background with my passion for helping others allows me to provide thoughtful guidance and reassurance during what can be a difficult time, and I am honored to be a trusted resource along the way.
